Introduction to ClickFunnels

ClickFunnels is a new product developed by Russell Brunson and his team.  Russell started his first online company while he was wrestling at Boise State Russell Brunson 2
University.  Within a year of graduating he had sold over a million dollars worth of his own products and services from his basement, so he’s no stranger to making good things happen.

After building many successful online businesses Russell started ClickFunnels, has a  supplement company, a coaching company (DotComSecrets), and is one of the top super affiliates in the world.

ClickFunnels is the tool that he created to shorten the time it took to create an online sales funnel – and any of you who have done this process one by one (as I have) knows how time consuming and expensive this is!

Unlike competitor products which allow you create single standalone pages, ClickFunnels is all about building different types of online marketing funnels. A simple Lead Capture Funnel might consist of 2 pages which collects a visitor’s email address and then sends them to a Thank you page when signing up.

Or you could have more complex sales funnels which are made up of numerous pages which sell to a visitor through each step of the funnel.

What Can you Create With ClickFunnels

With ClickFunnels you can easily create:

  • Optin/Lead Capture Funnels– Used to capture email addresses and grow your database
  • Sales Page Funnels– Create this to sell products and services
  • Webinar Funnels– To help people register for your webinars
  • Membership Sites– Generate a recurring income by creating a full blown membership site.

ClickFunnels has a myriad of templates for each of the different funnel types you can create.

You can use the pre-designed templates or start from scratch and build pages directly using the ClickFunnels editor.

The editor is where ClickFunnels really comes into it’s own: It has an easy point-and-click interface that enables you to easily put together different pages in your funnel.

No coding is required and really, anyone can use it to put together a sales funnel really quickly. Everything is live, so all design changes you make can be seen in real-time.

You get great flexibility in creating your pages in ClickFunnels. For example, you can easily move elements around and place them where you want, and there are great tutorials to show you how to do it all very easily.

Getting Started with ClickFunnels

Getting Started with ClickFunnels is essentially and easy process – there are really well put together videos to give you a close look at the program and it’s capabilities.

Creating your first funnel is super easy. Click the Add Funnels button and you are taken to a screen showing all the different funnel types available.

If you are not sure what each funnel does, there are videos at each step for you to watch.

Pick the Funnel you want and click the Create Funnel button. You will be asked to give your funnel a name.

ClickFunnels will go ahead and generate a set of pages for you based on the funnel you chose. So for a sales funnel you would get:

Pages can be deleted from the funnel by hovering and clicking the giant ‘X’ next to the page.

You can select from available templates for each page you want to create. Each template is professionally designed and there is a good selection to choose from. Plus, more are being added all the time.

If you don’t see a template that matches your current ideas, and if you are a little creative, you can absolutely start from scratch. This can be done by picking any template and then quickly deleting each of the sections on the page.

ClickFunnels is definitely flexible enough to support all types of designs and is quite intuitive to use – you can play around as much as you like till you get your desired result.

If you are selling a product, then you want to integrate with a payment processor.

ClickFunnels directly supports Backpack CRM, InfusionSoft and Clickbank.  if you don’t use any of those services, you could try using the Stripe integration since it is free to signup for and use.

I didn’t have any experience with Stripe until I tested it with ClickFunnels, but I found that it’s an extremely simple way to take credit card payments.

Once you have created your Stripe account, just follow the simple instructions to link it to your ClickFunnels account and you’re ready to go.  Whenever anyone goes through the Order Page form of your funnel, it will automatically be used to collect payment from your customer.

In addition to helping you create each of the pages in your sales funnel, ClickFunnels also helps you track how each page in your funnel performs and allows  you to split test – again you can fiddle around within ClickFunnels to use these functions.

ClickFunnels vs LeadPages

My guess is, you are probably wondering how ClickFunnels compares to LeadPages.

Russell is aiming ClickFunnels to become his flagship product, so what you see now is just a taste of what the product is going to look like in the future.

The real bonus with ClickFunnels is it’s easy to use editor. It is far more flexible than the LeadPages editor.

With LeadPages, you can customize the different elements on a template, but you can’t really move things around. You are constrained by the template you choose and that is why LeadPages landing pages and optin-boxes all have a similar look to them.

ClickFunnels gives you more control to create pages to your design specifications which Leadpages doesn’t. How to get this extra creativity also makes the process more complex. ClickFunnels certainly has a higher learning curve than LeadPages.

The other main advantage is that ClickFunnels creates complete sales funnels for you. And all stats through each stage of your funnel are tracked.

With LeadPages, you can only create single pages. So creating that initial sales page is simple.

ClickFunnels can also add order forms, upsells, downsells and more – Leadpages can’t.

Ultimately, it all depends on the requirements of your business. If you want a system that can create sophisticated funnels and integrates easily with a payment processor, then go with ClickFunnels.

However, if you want something that just collects optin emails via popups and landing pages, then I would go with LeadPages. While you can do the same with ClickFunnels, the price point of $97 a month is a little steep if you are not using its more advanced features.

I would just recommend trying out ClickFunnels to see how you like it. I personally like using ClickFunnels for a number of my products (sales funnel), I like the flexibility, tracking, the editor is sensational – I love what the etison suite offers with the email follow up options, all in all it you are making good money from it then the monthly cost is worth it.

I am not one for putting all my eggs in one basket – if you have everything vested in one place such as ClickFunnels and they go down for whatever reason, they take your business with them – but that applies to any of the products you use for your online business – I feel ClickFunnels is worth the risk however.   It was built by internet marketers FOR internet marketers and it will only continue to develop as times goes on.

P.S. The best way by far to begin affiliate marketing is right at your fingertips
